Green is running in a packed GOP Primary field.
Dan Green, the war veteran and former Donald Trump appointee running in Florida’s 9th Congressional District, is putting his military biography front and center in his first television ad.
The spot, titled “Conservative Warrior,” is now airing across the district.
“President Trump needs proven fighters, like conservative warrior Dan Green,” the ad’s narrator says.
“He witnessed the devastation of 9/11 firsthand, then he took the fight to America’s enemies. Five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Appointed by President Trump to the Department of War. Now, Dan Green’s running for Congress to secure our border, lower costs, and to always put America first.”
Green’s campaign launched the ad after announcing a $1.14 million fundraising haul over two weeks, driven by Green’s strong self-funding push.
Green has also earned a slate of endorsements from conservative officials and veterans. Backers include Osceola County Sheriff Chris Blackmon, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, state Sen. Danny Burgess and state Reps. Patt Maney and Fiona McFarland.
Green, a Vero Beach Republican, is an active drilling reserve officer with the U.S. Navy who brings 23 years of service and five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a veteran of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve.
Trump named him Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Force Development in 2019, and he co-founded the War Veterans Fund, a political committee dedicated to electing veterans to Congress, in 2018.
The ad and cash haul come as CD 9 has drawn a crowded Republican field. The seat, long held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Darren Soto across Osceola County and South Orlando, was redrawn this Spring under the new congressional map Gov. Ron DeSantis signed in May — a map projected to yield a 24-4 GOP edge statewide.
Soto is running for re-election anyway, but the redistricting turned a reliably Democratic district into a genuine opportunity for Republicans and drew a Primary field that now runs at least eight candidates deep.
The Primary is Aug. 18.
