Dan Green lands endorsements from Sen. Tim Sheehy, former Sen. Connie Mack in FL-9 race

VERO BEACH, Fla. —Republican congressional candidate Dan Green announced Monday that he has received endorsements from U.S. Sen. Tim Sheehy of Montana and former U.S. Sen. Connie Mack III as he campaigns for Florida’s 9th Congressional District.

Green, a Navy Reserve officer and former Trump administration Defense Department official, said the endorsements add to support he has already received from several Florida elected officials, law enforcement leaders and military veterans.

Sheehy, a former Navy SEAL officer who served alongside Green in Afghanistan, said Green has demonstrated the leadership needed to serve in Congress.

“Dan Green and I served in some of the most dangerous and unforgiving battlefields of Afghanistan, where leading from the front and working as a team made the difference between life and death,” Sheehy said in a statement. “He is exactly the kind of conservative fighter and patriot we need in Congress.”

Mack, who represented Florida in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 2001, described Green as “the true conservative fighter we need in Congress.”

Green is seeking the Republican nomination in Florida’s 9th Congressional District. His campaign said he has also been endorsed by Osceola County Sheriff Chris Blackmon, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, state Sen. Danny Burgess, state Reps. Patt Maney and Fiona McFarland, and several local officials and veterans.

According to the campaign, Green served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy and force development after being appointed by President Donald Trump in 2019. He has served for 23 years in the U.S. Navy and currently serves as an active drilling reserve officer.

A Vero Beach native, Green also co-founded the War Veterans Fund, a political organization that supports military veterans seeking election to Congress.
