Dan Green outlines campaign priorities, says affordability tops voter concerns

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Republican congressional candidate Dan Green said Friday he is running to help advance President Donald Trump’s agenda in Congress, citing his military service, national security experience and a focus on lowering costs for Americans.

Green, who is seeking Florida’s 9th Congressional District seat, made the remarks during an interview on Florida’s Voice Radio with Drew Steele.

Green said the district includes the Orlando and Osceola County area as well as Indian River, Okeechobee, Highlands, Glades and parts of Polk County following redistricting.

He said his campaign is centered on reducing prices, strengthening national security and supporting conservative priorities.

“We need to reduce prices, make America affordable again,” Green said. “We’ve got to also protect and defend the Constitution and we do everything we can to restore peace through strength.”

Green served as an adviser to the secretary of defense on long-term strategy during Trump’s first administration. He said he has served in the military for 23 years and completed five deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan after joining the armed forces following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Green praised Trump’s leadership, citing what he described as increased defense spending by NATO allies and greater financial contributions from countries hosting U.S. military bases.

Asked about issues voters raise most often on the campaign trail, Green said affordability tops the list.

“Grocery prices, gas prices are through the roof. Property insurance rates are through the roof,” he said.

Green also said voters want less bureaucracy and more effective leadership in Washington.

“I’m running to be a workhorse, not a show horse,” he said.

Green said Trump needs allies in Congress who will support his policy agenda, adding that he hopes to serve as “an ally” and “a passionate advocate” for Florida’s 9th District if elected.
